D-Ribose, or simply Ribose, is a simple, five-carbon sugar that is found naturally in our bodies.
It is an essential building block of adenosine triphosphate (ATP), the body’s most basic form of energy), which supplies energy to our cells. When the food you eat is broken down, the energy you obtain from it is converted to ATP within cells. If the cell does not have enough Ribose, it cannot make ATP. So, when cells and tissues become energy starved, the availability of Ribose is critical to energy recovery.
Ribose is not like any other sugar. Other sugars are used by the body as fuel, where they are used by the body to recycle energy. Ribose, on the other hand, is special. When we consume Ribose, the body recognizes that it is different from other sugars and preserves it for the vital work of actually making the energy molecule that powers the muscles, the heart, the brain and every other tissue in the body.
Ribose is made in our body cells from glucose, but this process is slow in the heart and muscle tissue. Although Ribose is present in all living matter, only a small amount can be taken via the diet. Many clinical trials have shown that supplemental Ribose provides a significant improvement in stamina during strenuous exercise, shortens recuperation time, reduces cramp and pain, and reduces fatigue in people suffering from energy depletion.
Ribose can be used as a stand-alone product or added to a variety of functional foods, beverages and nutraceuticals. It has been proven safe and clinically, of course.
People take extra ribose for several reasons, most of them related to exercise and sports performance. It is primarily marketed to athletes. Manufacturers claim that ribose:
Bioenergy Ribose is a natural, functional ingredient that delivers a unique way to restore and sustain energy at the cellular level. Our patented and clinically-proven ingredient also supports heart health, helps maintain healthy blood flow and circulation, delivers faster recovery (pre- and post-workout) and promotes healthy mitochondrial structure. Because Ribose is a naturally occurring carbohydrate already found in our cell structure, it is naturally safe for your products and consumers.
Ribose can be found in many foods like mushrooms, poultry, beef, cheese, eggs... But the amount of ribose you find in your daily foods is relatively small. The only way to get the recommanded amount of 5 to 10 g, is to use a supplement. When our supply of ATP – the starting point for all cellular energy – is depleted through such things as strenuous exercise or stress, the only way to boost your ribose levels is by supplementation. Bioenergy Ribose is absorbed rapidly after consumption and reaches its highest concentration in the bloodstream after about 45 minutes. Getting your daily dose ribose is so very easy. There are several simple options:
You can use ribose in a powder form. Bioenergy ribose has a slight sweet taste and dissolves easy in any liquid. Most popular brands will market Bioenergy ribose in 200, 250 or 500 g packaging.
You can choose to take your daily ribose in capsule form. In some applications we recommand to use 3-5 daily, devided over 2 or 3 dosages. Maybe it is more convenient for you to take capsules or tablets. Or it might be a easy and convenient solution when you travel. Ribose capsules with 500 mg Bioenergy D-Ribose are easy to swallow and will nog give you any aftertaste.
Look for functional foods which contain ribose as a active ingredient. Some innovative brands use Bioenergy ribose in drinks, cereal bars, milk shakes... The possibilities are endless. Our ingredient is pure, all-natural, non-GMO, GRAS, certified kosher and halal.
